Credit Card Profile: ANZ Balance Credit Card
August 10, 2009
Wouldn’t it be great if you could shed your high interest credit cards in favour of a better deal? You can! By taking advantage of their 0% interest offer on balance transfers, you can save money when you move your balance from your high interest credit card to a new ANZ Balance credit card. Better yet, unlike some other balance transfer cards which still charge high interest rates on purchases, the ANZ Balance card offers low regular interest rates and interest free days to help you avoid interest altogether. It gets better still — you’ll also earn rewards points towards shopping vouchers, gift cards, or cash back just for paying off your balance (including your balance transfer)!
Find out more about the ANZ Balance credit card below, and find out how you can start getting more out of your credit cards for less!
Type of Credit Card: Balance transfer card / low interest card / rewards card
Interest Rates*: The ANZ Balance Transfer credit card may predominantly be a balance transfer card, but it also offers you a low interest rate on purchases. You’ll be charged only 12.74% in interest on purchases, and you’ll enjoy a 0% APR for up to six months on your balance transfers (with the introductory period expiring six months after you are approved for the card — not necessarily six months after you initiate a balance transfer). You will pay a higher rate on cash advances though –19.99%.
Annual Fee*: The $79 annual fee for this card includes your rewards programme fee, so you won’t be charged extra to enjoy your rewards. If you choose to include additional cardholders, you’ll be charged $10 annually for each additional card you authorise.
Rewards / Extras*: The ANZ Balance card’s rewards programme is pretty straightforward — you’ll earn one reward point for each dollar spent. However, you won’t earn your points when you charge a purchase. You earn them when you pay off that balance. The perk is that you’ll also earn one point per dollar repaid on balance transfers and interest (which aren’t always included in rewards programmes for other credit cards). You’ll have the option to redeem your rewards points for cash back or shopping vouchers and gift cards with participating companies.
In addition to the rewards programme, the ANZ Balance credit card gives you up to 55 interest free days on purchases, the option to design your own credit card with a photo or other image, and puts no limit on the number of rewards points you can earn.
Additional Details*: The maximum credit limit available on ANZ Balance cards is $15,000 and subject to your credit history and income. Australian permanent residents must have a minimum annual income of $15,000 to apply.
It’s also important to keep in mind that any balance transfers not requested at the time of your application will be subjected to a 1% balance transfer fee.
