Commonwealth Bank Gold Credit Card
November 30, 2009
American Express credit cards often provide more points per dollar spent than other types of cards with rewards programmes, but they aren’t accepted as widely as some other credit cards. Wouldn’t it be great to have a decent credit limit, a rewards programme with lots of perks, and be able to choose which kind of credit card you want to use in each transaction? Now you can with the Commonwealth Bank Gold credit card, where you’ll receive both an American Express and MasterCard tied to the same account. When shopping, just choose a card that’s accepted and which will offer the most rewards for its use.
You can find out more about the Commonwealth Bank Gold credit card below and apply online today if you want to start earning more rewards with the flexibility of two credit cards for one account!
Type of Credit Card: Balance transfer card / Rewards credit card
Interest Rates*: The Commonwealth Bank Gold card features a 19.49% interest rate on purchases and a slightly higher rate of 20.49% on cash advances. If you’re looking to save money on existing credit cards, you might want to consider transferring your balance to this account. It offers a 5.99% promotional rate on balance transfers for the first five months.
Annual Fee*: You’ll be required to pay a $144 annual fee on this credit card, but that annual fee entitles you to all of the perks of the rewards programme.
Rewards / Extras*: Not only does your Commonwealth Bank Gold credit card account come with two cards, but each card will earn a different number of rewards points. The American Express card will give you two points for every dollar spent, while the MasterCard offers one point per dollar spent (but it’s accepted in more places).
You can redeem your rewards points for travel, shopping, and entertainment-related awards, or for cash back towards repaying your credit card balance. Points are capped at 100,000 per year (not including any bonus points awarded from special offers throughout the year).
Your Commonwealth Bank Gold card provides even more perks just for being an accountholder. Those benefits include free international travel insurance, purchase security, extended warranties, and commission-free travellers’ cheques.
Additional Details*: There is a minimum credit limit of $5000 if you are approved for the Commonwealth Bank Gold credit card. While you will receive both an American Express and a MasterCard, both cards are tied to a single credit limit.
