Credit Card Profile: Suncorp Gold Credit Card

February 25, 2010

Do you wish you could choose what kind of rewards programme you want with your credit card? Well now you can with the Suncorp Gold credit card. You’ll get typical gold card perks, but you can also choose between two different types of rewards programmes — a basic rewards points programme or a chance to earn frequent flyer points just for using your card. Which would you choose?

You can find out more about the Suncorp Gold credit card below to help you decide if one of the rewards programme options is right for you.

Type of Credit Card: Rewards credit card / Balance transfer card

Interest Rates*: The purchase rate on the Suncorp Gold card is 19.25%, but you can take advantage of a very low balance transfer rate of just 1.9% for your first nine months as a cardholder. Payments are applied to your balance transfer before being applied to your balance from purchases. At the end of your balance transfer introductory period, any remaining balance from that transfer will be subject to the cash advance interest rate of 19.75%.

Annual Fee*: There is a $99 annual fee to use the Suncorp Gold credit card. If you want to add additional cardholders to your account, you’ll have to pay a $15 additional card holder fee annually as well.

Rewards / Extras*: Like most gold cards, the Suncorp Gold credit card offers a rewards programme. You’ll be able to earn one reward point for every dollar you spend using your card. The Suncorp Take Flight rewards programme lets you apply those reward points towards cash back or travel rewards. Points never expire as long as your account is active.

You can also opt to earn two Qantas Frequent Flyer points for each $3 spent. However, if you want to take advantage of this frequent flyer point option, there is an extra $19 annual fee.

In addition to the rewards programme, you’ll also receive free international travel insurance and purchase cover.

Additional Details*: The Suncorp Gold credit card features credit limits of up to $25,000, and you must have a minimum annual income of $35,000 to be eligible for approval on a new account.
