Announcing the new Hyatt Gold Passport Visa

March 3, 2010

Hyatt Hotels has teamed with Chase Card Services in a multi-year alliance to offer a new Visa branded credit card, linked to the hotel chain’s Gold Passport rewards programme.

The new Visa credit card will be the first carrying the Hyatt Hotels name. According to the press release announcing the new partnership, the card will provide members of the Gold Passport loyalty programme additional ways to earn rewards points that can be redeemed for travel and travel-related services.

“We chose to align with Chase and Visa because they share our commitment to quality and customer service,” said John Wallis, the executive in charge of worldwide marketing and branding for Hyatt Hotels. “This alliance will enhance our Hyatt Gold Passport program and strengthen our relationship with our members by creating more opportunities to earn points to redeem for travel.”

“Creating a Hyatt-branded card delivers on Chase’s strategy of associating with the world’s best brands,” said Valerie Greer, a senior-level vice president with Chase Card Services. “Hyatt offers sophisticated travelers unique destinations, perfectly complementing our strong property portfolio.”

Hyatt Hotel’s Gold Passport loyalty programme offers three levels—Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Membership is free, and the Gold Passport programme can be joined either online or with the assistance of a receptionist at any Hyatt Hotel. Rewards points can be redeemed for free overnight stays, for membership upgrades, or for conversion to frequent flyer miles with participating airlines

The basic Gold membership level offers visitors the option of a later check-out time and free overnight stays with no blackout dates. The Platinum level offers bonus points, expedited check-in, and free Internet access, while the Diamond level offers even more bonus points, suite upgrades, and complimentary continental breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres in the exclusive Regency Club lounge.
