Bank statement shows trail of missing Victorian

March 1, 2010

A new trail has emerged in the search for Daniel Rosewall, 28, of Victoria, who vanished in the NSW outback last month. The arrival of his bank statement shows a $123 payment to a supermarket in Kerang, Victoria, roughly two hours north of the family home in Bendigo, on 27 January. Two days later, his car was found abandoned and out of petrol near Broken Hill, north of Silverton.

Mr. Rosewall remains missing despite a coordinated search by land and air. Police are not optimistic as to his safety.

“He asked to borrow the car, said he would be gone for half an hour, grabbed his credit card from his partner and told her he would see her that night,” said David Rosewall, Daniel’s father. “And then we get a phone call from police two days later to say they have found our car in Broken Hill.”

The bank statement, with the supermarket purchase not previously suspected, give his family renewed hope.

“Daniel doesn’t smoke, so he must have purchased food supplies at the supermarket,” David Rosewall said.

Daniel Rosewall appears Caucasian, with dark hair cut short, 178 centimetres in height and with a medium build. His last known dress was a grey polo shirt, dark shorts, and black office shoes.

The Rosewall family have distributed posters along the eastern coast, assisted by friends, and also set up a Facebook page. Anyone with information can ring police at 1800 333 000.

“So far nothing,” said the missing man’s father. “It is as if he has vanished into thin air. Someone out there must have information about Daniel and we are going to keep searching until we find him.”
