Wouldn’t you like the convenience of two credit cards to help you maximise your rewards earnings? Do you want to earn more frequent flyer points whenever possible? The American Express and MasterCard tied to your Earth credit card give you the higher rewards-earning potential of an Amex with the convenience and acceptance of a MasterCard.
Find out more about the standard Earth credit card below and see how many frequent flyer points you could be earning if you apply today.
Type of Credit Card: Frequent flyer card, Balance transfer card
Interest Rates*: The standard Earth credit card has a 19.14% variable interest rate on purchases and a 20.64% interest rate on cash advances. You can avoid paying interest on purchases by paying off your balance in full each month to take advantage of up to 45 interest free days.
If you’re interested in transferring a balance to your Earth credit card, you can take advantage of a special 1.99% interest rate on balance transfers for the first nine months you have your new credit card. It’s important to note that current customers with Westpac packaged or switched credit cards aren’t eligible for the offer.
Annual Fee*: There is an annual card fee of $75 if you are approved for the standard Earth credit card.
Rewards / Extras*: You’ll receive both an Earth American Express card and an Earth MasterCard tied to your credit card account. When you use your American Express, you can earn one Qantas frequent flyer point for every dollar spent on purchases. When you use your MasterCard instead, you can earn 0.5 frequent flyer points per dollar spent, but your MasterCard is accepted at more locations worldwide. You can even earn bonus points when you use your card to purchase select Qantas products and services.
You have to be a member of the Qantas frequent flyer programme in order to earn and redeem points with your Earth credit card. There is usually a joining fee when you first sign up, but if you aren’t already a member and you apply by 30 June 2010, Westpac has arranged to have the fee waived.
Additional Details*: You must earn at least $15,000 annually to be eligible for a standard Earth credit card. Gold and platinum Earth credit cards are also available.
* Interest rates, annual fees, and frequent flyer programme details were taken from the most accurate data available at the time of writing.
