Credit Card Profile: Earth Gold Credit Card
July 20, 2010
Do you regularly fly with Qantas? If so, you could save money and earn more frequent flyer points with an Earth Gold credit card. This card is actually two cards — an American Express and a MasterCard tied to the same account. Use the Amex where it’s accepted to earn more points, and use the MasterCard where American Express isn’t accepted so you don’t have to lose points altogether. Plus, earn extra points when you buy select Qantas products and services you already buy anyway!
Discover more about the Earth Gold credit card below and apply online today if it looks like the right frequent flyer card for you.
Type of Credit Card: Frequent flyer credit card, Balance transfer card
Interest Rates*: In general, you’ll want to pay off purchases made on your Earth Gold credit card each statement period because this isn’t a low interest card. You’ll pay 19.64% on purchases if you finance things over time. However, you can take advantage of up to 45 interest free days as long as your full balance is paid each month. There is a 21.14% rate on cash advances.
If you have a balance on another card where you’re being charged too much interest, you can save money if you can pay it off within six months. The Earth Gold credit card features a special six month balance transfer rate of just 0.99%!
Even better, if you use your Earth Gold credit card to buy select Qantas products and services, you can finance those at a much lower rate of just 5.99%. Just remember to notify the credit card company of the purchase or you won’t get that special rate.
Annual Fee*: There is a $125 annual fee for the Earth Gold credit card.
Rewards / Extras*: The Earth Gold credit card is a frequent flyer card that lets you earn Qantas frequent flyer points. You’ll earn 0.5 points per dollar spent on your MasterCard and one point per dollar spent when you use the American Express tied to your account. So always use the Amex where it’s accepted. You’ll earn twice the frequent flyer points if you do! You can also earn bonus points of one point per dollar spent on select Qantas products and services, so be sure to use your credit card when doing business with the airline.
This card also features several perks including free international travel insurance for up to three months, purchase security insurance and extended warranties.
* Interest rates, annual fees, and reward programme details were taken from the most accurate data available at the time of writing.
