Top Pick Credit Card Offers for October 2011

October 7, 2011

It’s the start of a new month, and that means it’s time for us to share the best of the best credit card offers. Each month we bring you the most attractive offers currently on the market to help you save time as you compare credit cards.

Here are our top five credit card picks for October.

1.Citibank Clear Platinum Credit Card

Why we love it: Nothing seems to be able to shake this offer from it’s top spot. Topping our list yet again is the Citibank Clear Platinum credit card with its 0% introductory offer on purchases and balance transfers for six months. It also features a $49 annual fee (which is extremely low for a platinum card). And when your 0% purchase rate offer expires, it reverts to the regular low rate of 11.99%.

2. Westpac Low Rate Credit Card

Why we love it: Here’s another low rate card that could be a real money-saver for you. It features a low $45 annual fee and a low regular purchase rate of 13.49%. The best part is the 0.99% balance transfer rate for up to your first nine months as a cardholder. That makes this a great credit card if you hope to save money on interest from existing cards.

3.Virgin Flyer Credit Card

Why we love it: We’re just full of great introductory offers this month. The Virgin Flyer credit card currently offers 0% interest on both purchases and balance transfers for your first six months! It also has a reasonable $99 annual fee. The only downside? The regular purchase rate reverts to 20.99%. So those who would get the most out of this card are consumers who tend to pay off balances in full monthly to get interest free days.

4. Citibank Gold Credit Card

Why we love it: Citibank makes our list again this month with their Gold card. While the 20.99% purchase rate and $149 annual fee might not make it an obvious winner, it has its perks. This card makes our list solely on its great balance transfer deal. You’ll get a very low 1.9% balance transfer rate. Better yet, this is the longest balance transfer offer we found, giving you 15 months to pay off those transferred balances.

5. Commonwealth Bank Low Rate Credit Card

Why we love it: The Commonwealth Bank Low Rate credit card is another money-saving option. While the regular annual fee is $78, qualifying cardholders will pay just $48. Plus you get a special introductory purchase rate of just 1% for your first five months. When that offer expires it reverts to the still-low rate of 13.24%. The only downside compared to our other low rate cards this month is the less attractive balance transfer offer — 5.99% and it lasts for only five months.
