Credit Card Profile: CUA Platinum Credit Card

February 23, 2012

Are you ready to turn in your classic credit card and upgrade to platinum spending power? If so, the CUA Platinum card is one option you might want to look into. The card offers potentially high credit limits coupled with a great rewards programme and plenty of perks.

You can learn more about the CUA Platinum credit card below, where you’ll find a link that will take you to an online application if you’re interested.

Type of Credit Card: Rewards credit card, Balance transfer credit card

Interest Rates*: This isn’t a low interest credit card, so it would be a good idea to pay off your balance in full each month to minimise what you’ll be charged. The purchase rate is 20.24% and the cash advance rate is 21.24%.

The CUA Platinum credit card does offer a great introductory balance transfer rate though. If you transfer your balance from another card, you’ll get 0% interest for your first nine months. That could help you save a lot of money if that balance is on a high interest card.

Just make sure you pay the balance transfer off during those nine months. If you don’t, any remaining balance at that time will revert to the very high 21.24% cash advance interest rate.

Annual Fee*: The usual annual fee for the CUA Platinum credit card is $179. However, during your first year as a cardholder, you’ll get a discounted annual fee of just $89 — a 50% savings. That’s very affordable for the platinum perks and spending power you’ll get.

Rewards / Extras*: This card features a rewards programme where you can earn 1.25 rewards points for every dollar you spend using your credit card. In addition to the rewards programme, you’ll get the following perks:

  • International travel insurance
  • Guaranteed pricing scheme (pricing protection)
  • Purchase cover
  • Interstate flight inconvenience insurance
  • Transit accident insurance
  • 24/7 concierge services

Additional Details*: The maximum credit limit for the CUA Platinum card is $60,000, although your personal credit limit may be less. Your limit is determined by your credit history, income, and other factors when your account is approved. To be approved at all for this credit card, you must have a minimum annual income of at least $50,000.
